Type: Exhibition pavilion to showcase reuse.
Location: Bois de la Bâtie
Client: Association
Project: BIG
Phase: design, construction
Date: 2025
This small temporary pavilion was set up for the duration of BIG 2025. BIG enabled us to build this pavilion as a demonstration project, using components from the demolition of the Kempinski hotel, in which we participated with the PIR: false ceiling, terrace railings, joists, etc. Since 2020, the Oikos workshop has been working with the Soreva association to set up tools to develop the use of reuse. These tools have enabled us to source and make materials available online in collaboration with the various artists exhibiting at the biennial. These tools will also be used to redistribute the materials at the end of BIG in order to continue the circularity approach. Through its policy and intrinsic values, the BIG has chosen to set an example in the management of construction materials. We are taking advantage of the biennial to experiment with reuse on a large scale, giving it visibility and exposure to everyone. The approach of building from reuse is all the more meaningful given its ephemeral nature, which is specific to the events industry. BIG highlights the need for reuse, giving “waste” a second life and a third life when it is dismantled for multiple projects. To participate in this circularity and recover materials, we invite you to register online at Réuzi Agora.
